IAS on its 8th Founding Anniversary

June 4, 2007

In any organization, there will always be resistance to change. Managing change in any organization is a Herculean task as it involves changing the organizational culture. The Integrated Transformation Program of PNP was designed to resolve organizational issues, strengthen law enforcement capabilities, and promote the career development and benefits of police personnel. For an entity such as the PNP, aware of its own failings and intent on reform, a strong autonomous IAS which can serve as a truly independent watchdog free from outside or inside interference and manipulation is key to PNP policing itself, and a prime vehicle by which the PNP can prove that it is serious.

In consonance with the PNP Integrated Transformation Program, the IAS celebrated its 8th founding anniversary in June 4, 2007 with the theme ofIAS a Catalyst for Change. The Honorable Secretary CERGE M REMONDE, was the guest honor and speaker, a well known personality who hails from Argao, Cebu. A former radio reporter/commentator and rose to become a member of a cabinet –-- first as head of the Government Mass Media Group (GMMG) with the rank of Secretary, and now, as Director General, PMS.

After of 8 years of struggle and still evolving into a disciplinary body, IAS celebrates its anniversary with enthusiasms and with bearing optimism to secure for the nation the evolvement of a well disciplined, effective, efficient and service- oriented PNP. As the guest speaker cited during his speech that Integrity, Honor and Service-oriented are the core values and time tested traditions that every member of the PNP must imbibe and live by.” The IAS was duty bound to protect and nurture these values and traditions. Being a catalyst for change or an essential arm for transformation, IAS performed its mandates with integrity and competence.

Transforming an organization requires initiative, cooperation and a willingness of the personnel and the managers in the organization to make sacrifices. This is what the Inspector General ATTY ALEXIS C CANONIZADO emphasized during the IAS anniversary review and command conference, to inspire each and every one of us to strive harder and move closer towards our objectives.
