Top HSF officials assure support to PNP HR activities

The top officicials of Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) in Munich, Germany and the Philippines pledged to support the PNP’s human rights-related activities, specifically in the production of information materials, multi-sectoral dialogues, and the training of trainers on human rights.

Jurgen Rein of HSF Head Office in Munich, Germany and Paul Schafer, HSF Resident Representative in the Philippines, made this assurance when they visited HRAO on March 4, 2008.  They were accompanied by Mary Ann Co, also of HSF Office in the Philippines.

PSSUPT Lina C. Sarmiento, Chief, HRAO, briefed the visitors on LOI “PAMANA” and its program components and other human rights-related initiatives of the PNP.

 Atty. Marlon J. Manuel of the Alternative Law Groups (ALG) also briefed Rein on the programs and projects of the organizations on the status of possible cooperation among HSF, ALG, PNP and AFP for a multi-sectoral dialogue.  Also present during the meeting was Atty. Jose Ma. Mendoza of Benigno S. Aquino Foundation.
