The PNP Communications and Electronics Service (PNPCES) celebrated  its 69th Founding Anniversary on August 15, 2011with the theme, “Makabagong Komunikasyon: Katuwang ng Kapulisan sa Mahusay at Mabilis na Paglilingkod sa Mamamayan”, The theme is the manifestion of its mission in providing the public a reliable, responsive and modern communication system designed to cater the communication needs of every police office which is currently being laid under the PNP Communication Development Roadmap.

Tracing back PNPCES’ history, it originates from  Signal Corps. when Insular Police of the Philippines was organized in 1902 pursuant to Act no 175 of the Philippines Commission.

Executive Order No 308 dated 30 March 1950 created the Philippine Constabulary (PC) and the organization of the PC Signal Corps was formalized on September 1955 under the Office of the Constabulary Chief Signal Officer (OCCSO). Later, it was renamed Office of the Constabulary Chief Communications–Electronics (OCC COMMEL) and the creation of the Office of the Zone Chief Communications– Electronics (OZCCE) for the four (4) PC zones.

OCC COMMEL was deactivated on 16 August 1978 and the PC/INP COMMEL Group, COMMEL Support & Service Unit and the thirteen (13) COMMEL Regional Units were constituted with authorized strength of 94 officers and 1520 enlisted personnel.

Philippine National Police was organized on  01 January 1991 pursuant to RA 6975 and the PNP Communications and Electronics Service (PNPCES) was subsequently activated to include the seventeen (17) Regional Communications & Electronics Offices.

One of the activities of the anniversary is “Libreng Tawag Abroad (LTA)” from August to September 2011 at PNPCES Camp Crame, Quezon City. The LTA in partnership with Contact Point Philippines will benefit NHQ-based PNP personnel and their dependents for free and unlimited calls to thirty-eight (38) countries to include mobile phones.

The PNPCES as one of the Administrative Support Office of the PNP mandated to provide communications and electronics services support. ♦
