266 WANTED PERSONS NEUTRALIZED IN 2 WEEKS

The Philippine National Police arrested 261 wanted persons during the first two weeks of August. Four other wanted persons were killed, while another surrendered during the period.

Police anti-drug operations during the last two weeks yielded P11.6-million worth of illegal drugs such as Shabu, Cocaine, and Marijuana plants. The PNP also recovered 108 different types of firearms and arrested 78 violators for illegal gun possession.

According to PNP Spokesman, Chief Superintendent Joel R Goltiao, the result of police operations during the last two weeks showed increased activity in he overall crime prevention and control campaign nationwide.

On the continuing campaign against illegal gambling, the PNP arrested 265 persons in 188 operations conducted since August 1 this year. These operations resulted in the confiscation of P206, 856. 00 in cash bets, and the filing of 27 cases in court.

During the 2-week period, police arrested seven kidnap-for-ransom suspects, among them, Cesar Olympiada of Tanauan City , long wanted for alleged involvement in at least seven separate KFR incidents in Metro Manila.

Also during the period, an NPA officer wanted in Mindoro Occidental was captured by police intelligence operatives in Cubao, Quezon City . Another NPA ember surrendered in Bataan .

On anti-car napping, the PNP arrested 22 persons and recovered one motor vehicle and 18 motorcycles.

In the enforcement of environmental protection laws, the PNP arrested 142 illegal fishermen, impounded 29 fishing boats, and confiscated P3.6-million worth of illegal fishing gear, equipment, and illegally-caught fish.

In the campaign against illegal-logging, the PNP arrested 13 violators and confiscated 100 logs, 6,000 flitches, and 42,649 board feet of lumber valued at P506, 731.00.
