829 MORE COPS TO METRO MANILA STREETS

The PNP National Headquarters has downloaded additional 829 police personnel to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) for police visibility patrols in Metro Manila.

PNP Chief, Director General Edgar B Aglipay has ordered all PNP Regional Offices to prepare their respective operational plans for an early implementation of a nationwide security plan during the entire Yuletide season.

To augment the 17,000-strong NCRPO, Aglipay has authorized the detail of 829 Camp Crame-based personnel for field operations in Metro Manila during the incoming holiday months.

During brief send-off ceremonies in Camp Crame today, 572 personnel from the PNP National Headquarters, and 257 newly-commissioned lateral entrants were received by NCRPO Chief, Director Avelino Razon Jr.

According to Razon, these 829 policemen will be deployed in the vicinity of commercial centers, transport terminals, convergence points, and other strategic locations to maximize police visibility in these areas.

Police visibility has been regarded as an effective crime deterrent especially during the holiday season when the yearly crime trend usually shows increased crime activity based on historical records.

The NHQ augmentation will be detailed to the NCRPO until January 2, 2005.
