STATEMENT OF P/DIR GEN EDGAR B AGLIPAY CHIEF, PHIL NATIONAL POLICE The Philippine National Police condemns in the strongest possible terms the dastardly murder of Senior Superintendent Manolo Martinez this morning in Sta. Mesa, Manila . We mourn the loss of a very good police officer and I express the deepest condolences of the officers and men of the PNP to the family of the late Senior Superintendent Martinez. Whatever the motive of his killers may be, this is patently a criminal act in the highest order that deserves the harshest penalty as it was perpetrated with treachery on an officer of the law. I have ordered the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) to step-up manhunt operations to arrest the suspects and prosecute them in accordance with legal procedure. Let not this dark episode diminish the resolve of the PNP in performing our avowed mission to enforce the law and protect our citizens from criminal and terrorist elements. Justice will be served.
