TAKE OATH AS NEW POLICE COMMISSIONED OFFICERS

Two-hundred and forty-nine (249) new members of the PNP Officer Corps were sworn into office today by PNP Chief, Deputy Director General Edgar B Aglipay.

The newly commissioned officers were appointed to the initial rank of Police Senior Inspector and Police Inspector in the PNP Technical Service thru Lateral Entry. According to Director Jose Lalisan Jr., PNP Director for Personnel and Records Management, the newly-appointed Police Commissioned Officers were chosen from among thousands of applicants for vacant positions in the PNP.

Lalisan said the Lateral Entry of the 249 new Police Commissioned Officers were processed and approved by then PNP Chief, Director General and now National Security Adviser Hermogenes E Ebdane Jr..

Among the newly appointed Police Commissioned Officers were 37 medical doctors and 26 lawyers. They were appointed to the initial ranks of Senior Inspector and will be assigned to the PNP Health Service and PNP Legal Service, respectively,

Lalisan said. Others appointed to the rank of Police Senior Inspector were 16 medico-legal officers and seven chaplains. Those appointed to the rank of Police Inspector were 24 dentists, 26 nurses, three communications officers, 71 forensic and chemical officers, 20 engineers, and 20 information technology officers.

Among the newly-appointed officers, 91 were from the ranks of Police Non-Commissioned Officers in the active service, while seven were PNP Non-Uniformed Personnel.

According to PNP Spokesman, Chief Superintendent Joel R Goltiao, the PNP Chief envisions to assign at least one Legal Officer and one Medical Officer for each of the Police Provincial Offices in the country.

As Aglipay administered the Oath of Office to the 249 newly appointed Police Commissioned Officers, he urged them to live up to the noble ideals of the police service that is God-centered, family-based and service-oriented. “Everyone in the PNP must remain totally committed in the service of God, country and people,” Aglipay said.
