3 ZAMBO BLAST SUSPECTS IN POLICE CUSTODY Police have taken into custody three suspects in Wednesday's twin explosions in Zamboanga City that injured at least 30 persons. Inquest proceedings are underway in Zamboanga City to present the suspects before prosecutors of the Department of Justice. Adzmar ABDURAUP , 33 years old; Angon ASMARIN, 32 years old; and Ibnoyatim SAMIER, all of Tipo-Tipo, Basilan were arrested moments after the explosions at a jeepney terminal along Campaner St. and at the St. Anne's Pension House at the corner of Gov. Lim and Climaco Avenue. In his report to PNP Chief, Director General Arturo C Lomibao, PRO-9 Regional Director, Chief Superintendent Prospero Noble said the first explosion at the public transport terminal destroyed a jeepney owned by Atty. Alfredo Camins of Zamboanga City . Noble has ruled out any connection of the explosions with the just concluded ARMM Special Elections. Five persons were wounded in the first explosion at 7:20 PM while 25 persons were injured in the second explosion that occurred some 40 minutes after the first blast. Most of those injured in the second explosion were occupants of the pension house and customers at a fastfood outlet located at the ground floor of the bombed building. Lomibao has upgraded the nationwide alert status into “full alert” as of midnight last night as a precautionary measure against the possibility of similar incidents. Police units in Metro Manila and other key cities in Visayas and Mindanao have been instructed to activate anti-terrorist security plans to prevent possible attempts. |
