PRESS STATEMENT OF POLICE DIRECTOR GENERAL ARTURO C LOMIBAO

The Philippine National Police will implement tighter security measures to prevent carjacking incident during the Yuletide Season.

PNP Chief, Director General Arturo C Lomibao has put to task the Traffic Management Group and the National Capital Region Police Office to initiate aggressive operations against carjacking syndicates in Metro Manila, where almost 60 percent (60%) of nationwide carjacking cases occur.

Although the carjacking situation in Metro Manila has been significantly reduced with the augmentation of TMG Regional Units to the NCR, the PNP will continue to implement anti-carjacking measures mainly thru visibility and checkpoint operations, strict enforcement of the “No Plate, No Travel” Policy, and “Market Denial” measures for stolen vehicles and parts.

We urge motorists and vehicle owners to heighted their vigilance against carjackers particularly during the Yuletide season when these syndicates have been known to step-up their activities.

Likewise, we call on the public for their cooperation in measurity measures being implemented by the PNP.
