On behalf of Chain of Command, I would like to reaffirm the unwavering commitment of all the officers and rank and file of the Philippine National Police to the Constitution, the Rule of Law, and to the duly constituted authorities under President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Reports that some disgruntled military and police personnel are planning to stage an uprising are patently untrue and unfounded.

These are blind rumors that may have been peddled by those who wish to foment panic and disorder to serve their selfish ends.

These agents of disinformation got the undue attention they wanted, but they failed in scaring the public. Market indicators even showed encouraging performance in yesterday’s trading.

Although these rumors are baseless at first glance, we did not take it lightly.

We declared full alert status, convened the crisis committee and directed the intelligence services to validate the reports.

Rest assured the PNP will stand united and remain steadfast against any unlawful action that will derail the efforts of government to sustain the country’s economic growth and development.
