LOMIBAO CAUTIONS AGAINST DISINFORMATION

The Philippine National Police high command today cautioned all personnel against disinformation efforts by some individuals urging policemen to go on mass leave in support of moves calling for the resignation of President Arroyo.

PNP Chief, Director General Arturo C Lomibao assured that the police organization will not fall for this vile deception of going on mass leave of absence as a form of protest.

“We are aware of the efforts by some individuals enticing members of the PNP to participate or support political moves calling for the resignation of the president,” Lomibao said.

“My guidance to all personnel is to ignore these calls and strictly follow the Chain of Command,” the PNP Chief said.

He said efforts by individuals to entice members of the PNP into joining protest moves must be reported immediately to superior officers.

“I must emphasize again that the PNP will not take part in any political move, much less join in any form of protest action against the administration,” Lomibao said.

For his part, Chief Superintendent Wilfredo Dulay Sr., Director of the PNP Legal Service, said existing rules and regulations prohibit PNP personnel in the active service from participating in partisan political activities.

Dulay cited certain provisions of Republic Act Nos. 6975 and 8551, as well as specific provisions in the Code of Professional Conduct and Ethical Standards that prohibit PNP members from engaging in partisan political activity.
