METRO MANILA, CENTRAL LUZON, CALABARZON PLACED ON FULL ALERT PNP Chief, Director General Arturo C Lomibao has placed all police forces in Metro Manila, Central Luzon and CALABARZON regions under full alert effective 8:00 AM today. He likewise instructed Police Director Vidal E Querol, Regional Director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) to activate Task Force Manila Shield in view of projected mass actions today by some groups, and to insure that criminal and terrorist elements will not take advantage of the situation. The PNP Chief reminded police personnel to strictly observe the policy maximum tolerance even as he issued a call for sobriety among participants in the mass actions to remain calm and folow the rule of law. Lomibao also issued his guidance to other Police Regional Offices to maintain heightened alert and remain focused on the daily crime prevention operations. Yesterday, Lomibao and Lieutenant General Generoso Senga, Commanding General of the Philippine Army, announced the capture of three suspected bombers in General Santos City. While in Central Mindanao yesterday, the PNP Chief visited Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat, Koronadal City and Tinampak, North Cotabato where he talked to the officers and men, and local officials during separate groundbreaking ceremonies for the construction of new police stations in line with the PNP priority program of "building stronger police stations". He also met CBCP President, Bishop Fernando Capalla of Davao City who assured him of support and coperation in PNP Transformation Program. Lomibao and AFP Chief of Staff, General Efren Abu, who, coincidentally, was also on field inspection in Mindanao, met Mayor Rodrigo Duterte in Davao City and jointly assured the public of their support to the administration and the constitutional process. Due to unfavorable weather condition today, Lomibao cancelled his scheduled trip to Alicia, Zamboanga Sibugay, considered an area of special concern because of a recent clan war and family conflict that left 14 persons killed and more than 20 others wounded. He directed instead Chief Superintendent Prospero Noble, Western Mindanao PNP Director, to convene the scheduled dialogue with local officials and community leaders, and proceed with the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new police stations for the towns of Alicia, Zamboanga Sibugay and Leon Postigo, Zamboanga del Sur. |
