PRESS STATEMENT OF POLICE DIRECTOR GENERAL ARTURO C LOMIBAO

The NSA and PNP held a conference today at 9:00AM at the main conference room attended by Hon Norberto B Gonzales and PNP commanders and staff.

Threats to national security and the PNP role in counter insurgency program were discussed.

While the AFP is the lead agency and the PNP on support role, the PNP had always been in the forefront due to our territorial deployment of forces, and the enemy has been taking advantage of its vulnerability.

The PNP sought the help of the NSA on the matter of upgrading its capability in view of the escalating atrocities of the local communist movement. s

Their attack on police stations, Globe cell sites, burning of heavy equipment, transport buses and other installations are now major peace and order/ law enforcement concerns.

Increase in personnel recruitment qouta, equipment and training upgrade are the priority concerns of the PNP to cope with the insurgency threat.
