5 KIDNAPPERS KILLED, CHINOY KIDNAP VICTIM RESCUED

Operatives of the Police Anti-Crime and Emergency Response (PACER) rescued a Chinese kidnap victim and killed five suspected kidnappers during a daring police operation in Caloocan City shortly before noon today.

DILG Secretary Angelo T Reyes, and PNP Chief, Director General Arturo C Lomibao, who is concurrent Chief of the National Anti-Kidnapping Task Force (NAKTF), were at the scene to personally assess the result of the successful police operation.

According to PNP Deputy Chief for Operations and concurrent Chief PACER, Deputy Director General Oscar C Calderon, the police operation conducted at Lot 44 Block 13, Sapphire corner Gold Sts., Merry Homes Subdivision, Sabarte, Caloocan City resulted in the safe rescue of kidnap victim Willy Chua.

The rescue operation, launched at 11:00 AM today, was nearly spoiled by the resistance offered by armed members of the Waray-Ilonggo KFR Group that held Chua inside the syndicate's safehouse.

Five still unidentified members of the kidnap gang were killed in the exchange of gunfire with lawmen.

Recovered at the scene were a cal.45 submachinegun, a hangrenade, two cal.38 revolvers, and a cal.45 pistol. Investigators are still verifying the identities of the slain suspects.

Chua was abducted last October 7, 2005 at Solar Junk Shop located at No.12 P Dela Paz, Sitio Gitna, Barangay Nagkaisang Nayon, Quezon City.
