HERO COP FOILS BUS HOLD-UP

PNP Chief, Director General Arturo C Lomibao ordered the spot promotion of a Mandaluyong City policeman who foiled a hold-up on aboard a passenger bus along EDSA in Pasay City this morning.

PO2 Desililo Custodio , assigned with the Police Community Precinct 4 of the Mandaluyong City Police Station was promoted to the next higher rank of Police Officer 3 in recognition of his bravery.

Custodio was on board a Saint Benedict bus at 3:15 am this morning when four suspects armed with bladed weapons announced a hold-up while the bus was traveling along the North-bound lane of EDSA in Pasay City.

As he introduced himself as a policeman, the suspects tried to attack Custodio with knives forcing him to use his service firearm.

One of the suspects died on the spot, another was pronounced dead on arrival at the Philippine General Hospital, while two more were able to flee by jumping out thru the bus windows.

Police are now conducting pursuit operations to capture the two suspects, one of whom is believed to have suffered a gunshot wound in the abdomen.

Flying in from a provincial sortie in the Caraga Region, the Chief PNP went straight to the Mandaluyong City Police Station to award the promotion.
