16TH PNP ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL SWEEPSTAKES DRAW
The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) will hold another special
sweepstakes draw for the benefit of the Philippine National Police.
A Memorandum of Agreement was signed yesterday by PCSO General Manager
Rosario Uriarte and PNP Chief, Director General Oscar C Calderon for the
holding of special sweepstakes draw in celebration of the forthcoming 16th
PNP Anniversary on January 2007.
Also present during the MOA signing ceremony was PCSO Chairman Sergio
Valencia, and members of the PNP Command Group and Directorial Staff.
Proceeds of the upcoming special sweepstakes draw will be used to finance
the construction of five more new police stations to strengthen field
units in support of the PNP Integrated Transformation Program.
According to Calderon, the resounding success of the June 25, 2006 special
sweepstakes draw encouraged the PCSO and PNP to venture into another
similar joint undertaking.
“The MOA that we formalize today is a renewal of the common commitment of
the PCSO and the PNP leadership to insure better police service to the
communities not only by providing for the operational requirements of PNP
units, but more importantly, by promoting the morale and welfare of police
personnel and their dependents,” Calderon said.
The June 25, 2006 special sweepstakes draw generated over P11.3-million
for the PNP from the sale of 100,000 booklets of sweepstakes.
The proceeds have been earmarked for the development of the CIDG Warrant
of Arrest Information System and computerization of the PNP Legal Service.
The June 25 special sweepstakes draw also generated some P14-million for
PNP dependents as ticket seller's commission.
