PNP Offers Scholarship Grants for SY 2008 The Philippine National Police (PNP) is offering three different scholarship grants namely the NAPOLCOM Scholarship Program, Kaagapay sa Pangarap Foundation Inc (KPFI) High School Educational Assistance Program and the PNP Educational Assistance Program (PNPEAP) to dependents of PNP personnel. "With the rising costs of commodities and tuition fees, the various educational assistance being implemented serve as our way of helping our 'Mamang Pulis' and 'Aleng Pulis'," said PNP Chief PDGen Avelino I Razon Jr. According to the Director for Personnel and Records Management Police Director Edgardo E Acuňa, the programs have been successful for the past school years. "The NAPOLCOM Scholarship Program has already awarded 3,701 scholarships for students in elementary, high school and college throughout the country while the Kaagapay sa Pangarap Foundation Inc High School Educational Assistance Program and the PNP Educational Assistance Program had 100 and 15 scholars respectively", Acuňa said. The scholarships being offered are for qualified PNP dependents giving priority to the beneficiaries of PNP personnel killed in action, those discharged due to complete disability, those wounded or incapacitated in line of duty and those who distinguished themselves through exemplary performance in the PNP. The PNP Educational Assistance Program is also open for PNP Uniformed and Non-Uniformed Personnel. Meanwhile, the PNP announced the termination of the PNP Scholarship Program for dependents of the former Philippine Constabulary and the Integrated National Police (PC/INP) personnel due to the discontinued remittance of the Mutual Benefits Association Incorporated (MBAI). "Although the scholarship program for dependents of the PC/INP came to an end, the PNP is presenting alternatives for them. If they are eligible for the other scholarships being offered they are very welcome to apply," said PNP Spokesman PCSupt Nicanor A Bartolome. |
