The "Pulis Ko, Titser Ko" nationwide program of the Philippine National Police was formally launched on June 2, 2008 at Camp Sergio Osmena, Headquarters of Police Regional Office 7 in Central Visayas.

Through Police Director Leopoldo N Bataoil, Director of Police Community Relations, who organized this program while he was assigned as Police Director of PRO I, met participants from PRO 6, 7 and 8 mostly with the rank of Police Officer I who were all graduates of Education courses and had taught in schools before joining the police force.

According to Bataoil, these members of the Regional Mobile Groups and Provincial Mobile Groups will soon be assigned to far-flung areas to offer their services "free of charge" to the nearest elementary schools of their detachments to act as substitute teachers to those who are unavailable due to sickness and regular teachers who are on leave during trainings and seminars.

He added that this project will not only help the Department of Education in its effort to educate children but it will also help in the image enhancement of PNP.

With Bataoil (rigth) is PSSUPT VICTORIO CARAGAN , Executive Officer of DPCR and Ms Ofelia Estaquio, (left).

He also believes this as a way to help ease attacks of New People's Army (NPA) rebels on policemen as some of rebels might be the parents of the children being taught by the policemen.

In line with President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's directive to support government's efforts on addressing illiteracy which is one of the root causes of insurgency, PNP Chief Director General Avelino I Razon Jr then instructed Bataoil to make the program a nationwide campaign.

"This is a timely activity in line with the school opening, bringing the PNP closer to people, winning war without firing a shot, and touching people's lives" Bataoil said.
