DANGEROUS PLANTS -- Chief Superintendent Romeo Hilomen (foreground), PNP Regional Director for Region 1, leads the symbolic destruction of part of the P90.6-million worth of prohibited Marijuana plants uprooted from a 3-hectare clandestine plantation in Sitio Bekes, Licungan, Sugpon, Ilocos Sur. The bulk of the confiscated Marijuana plants were destroyed on site by PNP and PDEA agents. PNP bomb investigators search for evidence
Police bomb investigators search for evidence at an explosion site in Manila on March 18, 2008. The explosion was allegedly connected between two opposing fraternity groups injured at least 15 people near the Mendiola area on March 18 at around 4:25 p.m.. The blast outside La Consolacion College was also about 500 - 600 meters away from the Malacanang palace.

PNP bomb investigators gather evidence at the site of an explosion in front of a canning factory that killed three people, in General Santos, southern Philippines, 30 January 2008. Three people were killed and 27 injured in a bomb blast in the southern Philippine city of General Santos. The bomb allegedly exploded outside the main gates of a tuna canning factory just after 7:00 pm as workers were going home.

RP-KOREA POLICE JOIN FORCES AGAINST CRIME --- PNP Chief, Director General Oscar C Calderon and Commissioner General Lee Taek-Soon, Chief of the Korean National Police, signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Seoul seeking better cooperation between the two police forces in addressing common concerns on transnational crime and terrorism. The agreement also aims to improve security conditions for Filipinos living in South Korea and for Koreans residing in the Philippines.

HI-TECH EQUIPMENT --- PNP Chief, Director General Oscar C Calderon accepts the donation of computer forensic equipment from US Ambassador Kristie Kenney during simple ceremonies in Camp Crame. The computer hardware and software applications are part of the technical assistance package provided by the US Department of State under its Anti-Terrorist Assistance Program to boost the campaign against terrorism.

CAPTURED NPA WEAPONS --- PNP Chief, Director General Oscar C Calderon inspects high-powered weapons, explosives, grenades and other equipment recovered from five slain New People's Army terrorists during the failed siege of the Matnog Police Station and Ferry Terminal in Sorsogon during the weekend. Calderon promoted 12 personnel of the Matnog Police Station led by Chief Inspector Jesus Callada (2nd from left) for successfully defending the town against the NPA. PNP ASSUMES NEW ROLE IN COUNTER-INSURGENCY --- PNP Chief, Director General Oscar C Calderon issues his guidance to members of the Regional Mobile Group-4B that are now conducting counter-insurgency operations in Mindoro Occidental alongside troops from the Philippine Army. Calderon told the troops that the PNP is taking a more active role in the counter-insurgency campaign of government under Executive Order No. 546.
