City police's relentless anti-crime drive sends a strong message -- Jaraula

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Jan. 31 (PNA) - Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula Thursday said that the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office's intensified drive against all forms of illegal activities sends a strong message for the deterrence of crimes in the city.

"This anti-crime drive is a message to criminals and lawless elements that we will never tolerate all forms of criminalities and illegal activities because this leadership will always run after you," Jaraula stressed.

Jaraula and Acting City Police Director Isagani F. Genabe Jr. led Thursday's ceremonial smashing of 10 units of slot machines and pornographic DVD tapes confiscated during relentless citywide anti-crime campaign by the local police early this week.

Before the ceremonial breaking of the slot machines and lewd tapes, the different precinct commanders presented to the mayor seven suspects who were arrested for violating RA 9287 or illegal numbers game, popularly known as "suertres".

Recovered from the suspects were four motorcycles allegedly used in their illegal numbers game operations, 22 tally sheets and bet money amounting to P1,126.50.

The recent police crime prevention drive also collared seven suspects for murder, one suspect for illegal possession of firearm, and one suspect each for theft and robbery.

Meanwhile, Jaraula revealed that the money from the confiscated slot machines was turned over to the City Social Welfare and Development Office for its feeding program.

In last week's operation, more than P7,500 were also given to the CSWDO. (PNA)

Jaraula commends city police for boosting anti-crime drive

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Jan. 23 (PNA) - Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula congratulated the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) for a "job well done" in the wake of its renewed all-out campaign against criminality.

Jaraula made the remarks after newly-installed city police director Supt. Isagani F. Genabe Jr. and some precinct commanders presented to the media a number of apprehended persons who reportedly committed various crimes and offenses.

"You must face the consequences of your actions as the rule of law must take its course and let the court decide your fate," Jaraula told the nine suspects during the media presentation held at the mayor's office.

As this developed, Jaraula warned persons involved in illegal drugs, gambling, robbery and other high-profile crimes that the city government will not relent in its anti-criminality campaign.

"This leadership will always run after you wherever you are," assured the mayor, adding that the suspects' media presentation aims to create public awareness on the city's heightened anti-crime drive.

For his part, Genabe, who assumed last week as COCPO's officer-in-charge, vowed that more apprehensions of lawless elements are expected to come. (PNA)
